SIX PROGRAMMES ARE APPROVED UNDER THE EEA & NORWAY GRANTS

On the 12th of September 2012 "Granit hall" at the Council of Ministers hosted the official launching of the EEA and Norway Grants 2009-2014. Four Programme Implementation Agreements approved by the FMC were signed during the event:

"Children and youth at risk" with PO Bulgaria's Ministry of Education, Youth and Science - presentation
"Capacity building and institutional cooperation" with PO the Operational Programme "Technical Assistance" - presentation
"Correctional Services, including Non-custodial Measures" with PO the Ministry of Justice - presentation
"Judicial Capacity- building and Cooperation" with PO the Ministry of Justice - presentation
Three of them - "Children and youth at risk", "Correctional Services, including Non-custodial Measures" and "Judicial Capacity-building and Cooperation" are implemented in partnership with the Council of Europe.

Another two programmes that have recently been signed were presented during the event:

"Green industry innovation" with PO the Norwegian State Agency "Innovation Norway" - presentation
"Funds for non-governmental organisations" with PO selected after a contest from the FMO - Institute "Open Society" in partnership with Foundation "Workshop for civil initiatives" - presentation
Bulgaria was represented on the event by the Minister of EU Funds Management Mr. Tomislav Donchev, the Minister of Justice Mrs. Diana Kovacheva, the Minister of Education, Youth and Science Mr. Sergei Ignatov. The official delegation from the Kingdom of Norway included Mrs. Gry Larsen - Secretary of State and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Tove Skarstein - Ambassador of Norway to Bulgaria, Mrs. Ingrid Schulerud- Ambassador - EEA Financial Mechanisms, Mrs. Verena Taylor - Director of the Council of Europe's Liaison Office to the European Union and Mr. Rolf Almklov - Regional Director for Central Europe of Innovation Norway.

The total number of approved programmes now is seven, since the first Programme was launched in December 2011 - "Global fund for decent work".

The size of the funding made available for Bulgaria within the EEA & Norway Grants is €126.6 million Euro. Horizontal issues such as improving the situation of Roma in Bulgaria and strengthen the bilateral relations between are also in focus within all priority areas.
