NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR PRESCHOOL EDUCATION FOR THE CHILDREN FROM FAKULTETA DISTRICT IN SOFIA

More than 150 children between 4 and 6 ears old from the Faculteta District in Sofia will aquire school habits within a project udner the Children and Youth at Risk programme. The project also aims to increase the motivation of parents to send children to school and encourage them to actively participate in the education process.

The project was officially opened today by the Prof. Nikolay Denkov, Deputy-Minister of Education and Science, Ms. Elisabeth Aspaker, Norwegian Minister of EEA and EU Affairs and Mr. Ivan Chakarov Mayor of Krasna Polyana District.

„Me myself, I am a teacher. Investing in education from early age is a priority of the Norwegian Government. It is crucial more Roma children to attend the preschool classes, because this is defining for their future success at school," said Minister Aspaker.

The support under the project amounts to almost 360 000 Euro and provides reconstruction of the facilities in 75th Elementary School "Todor Kableshkov" with 2 new classrooms, a kitchen and a canteen that will secure warm lunch for the children.
