CLOSING EVENT UNDER PROJECT OF BULGARIAN PORTS INFRASTRUCTURE COMPANY

On 23 of May, the beneficiary of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 Bulgarian ports Infrastructure Company presented the results of the Black Sea Monitoring and Information System project successfully implemented under the Green Industry Programme in Bulgaria. The project with a budget of EUR 1 500 000 is financed under the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009-2014, with national co-financing amounted of 225 000 euro.

Mr. Angel Zaburtov, Director-General of the Bulgarian ports Infrastructure Company, thanked to the representative of Innovation Norway, Ms. Anne Lise Rognidalen for the support provided and for the established excellent cooperation with the Norwegian project partners, outlining the achievements:

An on-going platform with a database on the state of the various environmental, maritime and coastal zones with ecological impact and related to the conservation and sustainable development of the Black Sea. Established spatial data infrastructure (SDI) for real-time environmental monitoring of the Black Sea, regional seas and rivers and the coastal zone for the Bulgarian authorities, built using the best practices of the Norwegian Coastal Administration in the development and management of the system BarentsWatch.

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications, Mr. Velik Zanchev, as well as representatives of the main project partners:

NIMH (National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology) - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences; Institute of Oceanology - Varna; IA "Maritime Administration"; Higher Naval School "N. Vaptsarov "; Cluster Aerospace Technologies, Research and Applications and NIS at Sofia University.
