CLOSING EVENT UNDER PROGRAMME BG06 “CHILDREN AND YOUTH AT RISK”

Today, closing event under the BG06 Programme "Children and Youth at Risk" was held.

Welcome speeches were delivered by Ms. Tania Mihaylova, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Ms. Denitsa Sacheva, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Ms. Grete Odegaard, EEA and Norway Grants Counsellor, Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Romania, Ms. Katya Dolgova-Dreyer, Council of Europe, and Ms. Daniela Tsoneva, National Focal Point. Among the official guests were invited representatives of the projects funded under the Programme, representatives of the Romanian Programme Operator and others.

4 youth centers were established under BG06 - in Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, Mezdra and Sredets in the capital. 11 projects were funded in various municipalities in the country mainly related with work with socially disadvantaged families.

More than 40 Roma educational mediators and more than 200 teachers were trained during the programme.

The Mediators are the link between people in community and institutions. The goal is to integrate vulnerable groups into society.
