Project objective:
The main objectives of the Project are focused at development of better policy against DV and GBV and creation of action plan for creation of supportive and caring environment for children and youth through bilateral cooperation between Bulgaria and Norway. More specifically the overall objectives are:
Raising awareness of DV and GBV
Making the prevention and response to GBV a priority in national policy and development assistance programming
improve knowledge among Bulgarian institutions and NGOs about DV and GBV best Norway practice
creation of favorable conditions for further sustainable cooperation in field of protection and prevention of DV and GBV
Realization in practice of mutual commitment between Norway and Bulgaria for exchanging good practices in field of implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
Specific objectives are:
identification of problems faced everyday by NGOs service providers to children and their mothers victims of DV and GBV;
creation of joint action plan for better prevention and protection of children victims of DV and GBV
preparing of proposals for legislation and policy development at Bulgarian level
Short project description:
The project aims at capacity building and strengthening bilateral partnerships between Bulgarian and Norwegian organizations in field of prevention of violence against children and youth at risk. Policies and legislation on protection and prevention of violence against children, incl. recognition of children witnesses of violence as victims by the institutions will be subject of research and exchange of good practices between Bulgarian and Norwegian partners. Based on the outcomes and conclusions made within project initiatives (survey among the NGOs server providers to children victims of violence and institutions; and 3days conference) the strategy for better protection of children from violence will be developed.
The project proposal aims to support the process of developing a full program of stopping DV, incl. to improve protection service for battered women and children and youth who live in an environment of violence. The better detection of physical abuse of children will be achieved by giving police and judiciary system better knowledge and instruments to deal with DV.
Expected project results:
The improvement of national and regional cooperation between involved institutions from both countries
Awareness raising about DV among the institutions
Development of effective prevention
Strengthening the knowledge and competence on protection of DV in Bulgaria
Creation of favorable conditions for changing attitudes on DV and GBV among the society
The purpose of the project proposal is to motivate institutions from both countries to share experience and knowledge for better prevention and protection from DV and other forms of GBV. By bringing representatives from different institutions and organizations together effective policies against DV at national level and local level will be developed.
In addition the project will support better mutual understanding and knowledge between Bulgarian and Norway institutions and organizations and will create opportunity for further common initiatives
